Greetings Bobcat Nation! It is surreal to be addressing the best school community in the state! At Seneca High School, our mission is student excellence in academics, arts and athletics. Our students don’t reach these incredible levels of success without the support of the best teachers, staff members, parents and community stakeholders in the state - One Seneca. This year we will strive to pursue even more pillars of excellence. Being a Palmetto’s Finest High School, one of the most prestigious awards a SC high school can earn, excellence is the standard for our Bobcats. The Class of 2021 graduated 200 seniors with 15 seniors receiving Palmetto Fellows Scholarships and 137 seniors potentially qualifying for the Life Scholarship. The Class of 2021 received over $20.5 million dollars in scholarship money, a Seneca High School record. A high performing academic class, the Class of 2021 participated in 23 Advanced Placement courses and boasted 76 High Honor Graduates and 49 Honor Graduates. Looking ahead, we certainly anticipate great things from the Class of 2022! Beyond the classroom, The Fine Arts Department continues to be recognized as one of the finest in the state. In the midst of having to adjust to new safety protocols and regulations that made practicing their crafts difficult, our fine arts directors and students still persevered. Fifteen SHS students were named to the SC All-State Chorus. SHS also boasted multiple All-State Band, All-State Jazz Band, and All-State Orchestra members. On the athletic fields and courts, our Bobcats continue to perform at a high level. Boys Tennis were upper state finalists and our Boys Track and Field team were state runner-ups, respectively. The Boys Basketball team was crowned upper state champs, with a title game appearance. Lastly, in superior and dominating fashion - our Girls Cross Country, Girls Track and Field, and Softball teams all won STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! What an incredible run for our Bobcat athletes! As we head into a new school year, I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the purpose and passion used to propel Seneca High School through last school year. Students, staff, parents and all community stakeholders handled times of uncertainty and new challenges that made teaching and learning difficult. Instead of succumbing to this adversity, Seneca High persevered and exceeded expectations. This is a testament to our Bobcats having passion in all that they do and never forgetting their purpose. I am humbled to be joining a school community with this mindset. I thank Bobcat Nation for embracing me and my family, and I’m ready to begin the hard work of ensuring that our school continues to burn with a passion for success, while striving to reach even greater heights. Go Bobcats! Dylan T. Hudson, Principal Seneca High School |
