Welcome to Seneca High School

School and Community

Located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Seneca High School is a public, rural high school with a current student enrollment of 953, serving grades nine through twelve. SHS has been fully accredited by our regional accrediting association since its inception, and has a rich heritage of pride and diverse traditions. The history of our school dates to 1888, about the same time as the founding of the town of Seneca. Today, we are the most diverse school in our district, with 37% minority students. Over the last decade, our student population has steadily become more impoverished due to the closing of textile mills throughout our county. Currently, 45% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch. Seneca High was named Palmetto’s Finest High School in 2017 after being named a semifinalist and finalist the two years prior. This is the highest honor awarded to schools in South Carolina.
