Exam Exemption Policy, As of July, 2026:
Juniors and Seniors who do not miss more than five (5) days in a full-unit course (or two-unit course) or more than three (3) days in a half-unit course and who have an ‘A’ average will have the option to take a cumulative exam (except for specific courses with state requirements - see next paragraph). If such a student chooses to take the exam, it will not have a negative effect on the student’s overall grade. Students not meeting the attendance requirement will be required to take a cumulative exam and the exam will count toward the final grade.
State end of course (EOC) tests will serve as the cumulative exam in courses designated by the South Carolina Department of Education and will count for 20 percent of the course grade, as required. Students cannot be exempted from EOC tests and the grading requirement will be the same as it is for other students.
Cumulative exams for non-EOC courses will count for 10 percent of the course grade.
AP classes will not give cumulative exams that count 10 percent of the final grade as the AP exam serves as this assessment.
